Americana Table for the 4th of July

I love decorating with red, white and blue, and I love gardening, so I was thrilled to find these dishes that bring together veggies and Americana.

There were only four choices, so I picked one of each.  We normally only have four of us for dinner, but for several months this year, we had five.  I decided to use some complimentary plates for the ends so I had enough place settings for everyone.
I used the red Pottery Barn dinner plates underneath the veggie plates.  On the ends, I used large blue plates and the red PB salad plates.  Even though they are different, they seem to go together ok.  :)

Not only can I use these to celebrate the Fourth, but can also use them all summer.  Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

 Happy 4th and Happy Summer!

Thanks for your visit.

You Can Plant Flowers in Any Old Thing

I love using old containers for flowers.  We recently found this little barrel for $10.  When we cut it in half, we were pleased to find a plastic liner for both sides.  :)  We drilled a couple of holes in the bottom, then put some burlap over the holes, filled with potting soil and planted petunias, cosmos and salvia.

I found this old drink dispenser at a sale last week.  It too had a plastic liner.  I filled the bottom with pea gravel, then potting soil.  The wave petunias are already growing fast.  I put a geranium in the center.

Here's an old galvanized bucket.  I drilled holes in the bottom, put some pea gravel and potting soil and filled it with cosmos.

I used an old milk crate for wave petunias on the porch.  OMG, they are filling in fast!

Things are blooming like crazy now!  From conventional pots and hanging baskets to any type of container that you love, flowers look great!

What's your favorite unconventional container for your flowers?

Thank you for your visit!
Happy Summer!!

Comfy Addition for the Adirondack Chairs

My husband recently made footstools to go with the Adirondack chairs that he made a couple of years ago.  We added this spot this spring for the chairs and now it's our favorite place to hang out early in the day.

We also added these chestnut colored pads from Home Decorators.  They fit the chairs perfectly!

It's a great spot to listen to the water in the pond and see a different view of the backyard.

The birds in the birdhouses right there aren't too thrilled with us sitting nearby, but they eventually settle down.

Ahh, we sure love spring and summer!

Thank you for your visit!
